Factory tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) became available during the 2007-model year with the introduction of the GMT-900 "new body style" HD trucks. TPMS is not only a convenience feature, but a safety feature as well. Over-inflated or under-inflated tires can effect fuel economy, load-carrying capacity, and increase risk of blow-out or tire failure.
Aftermarket TPMS kits have been available for some time, however they can be unreliable, are not engineered to rigorous OEM-standards, and last but certainly not least, you are stuck with an unsightly, cluttered TPMS display stuck to your dashboard.
The BT DieselWorks TPMS kit not only uses all factory parts, but the vehicle integration is completely seamless, using your factory steering-wheel-controls and driver info center to display individual tire pressures in real time!
If any tire drops below a programmed threshold, you will be alerted with a chime, and the driver info center will indicate which tire is low on air.
"Low-tire-warning" threshold is fully-programmable (dealer visit/Tech 2 required) to suit various tire sizes and desired normal-operating pressure.
Install notes: TPMS module is plug-and-play, however tires must be dismounted to install TPMS sensors. Once installed, a dealer visit may be required to activate the system using a Tech 2. This is a very simple procedure that should only take a few minutes. Once TPMS is activated, the tire sensors can be easily relearned at any time via a sequence of turning the headlight switch "on" while holding the door-lock button; in other words, you do NOT have to re-visit the dealer when you have your tires rotated.
Currently available for 2004-2007 "classic" GMT-800 trucks. It should work on 2003 trucks as well, but this has not been confirmed. If you have a 2003 truck and are interested in testing (in return for a special price on the kit), please contact me!
